Open House on Draft Zoning Proposal and Framework Updates

On February 6, 2019, 6:00 PM at PS32, 317 Hoyt Street (at Union Street),
we invite you to come learn about the progress that has been made in
planning for Gowanus. Attendees will have the opportunity to take a deep
dive into the draft zoning proposal and non-zoning strategies and to
discuss, give feedback and ask questions of City agencies. Attendees
will also learn more about next steps in the neighborhood planning
process.

Community Resources Event: Schools, Transportation and More

Location: MS 51 (350 5th Ave Brooklyn, NY 11215)
Time: 6: 30 pm
Come learn and share your ideas for how to plan for schools and transportation needs in Gowanus! Join government agencies—including the Department of City Planning (DCP), Department of Transportation (DOT) and School Construction Authority (SCA)—for a public meeting on schools, transportation and community resources. We will discuss existing needs, share information about how a neighborhood plan might address those needs, and hear your ideas. In addition, come learn about the planning study, recent work, and other updates, including urban design and land use objectives and principles derived from the Working Group process.

Come share your ideas at the Gowanus Neighborhood Planning Study’s first public
workshop!
 
Participants will learn about neighborhood goals that community members and
City agencies are working on together and contribute their own ideas about land
use and urban design through mapping exercises and other activities. This is
the first public workshop in the planning process to develop a draft planning
and land use framework for the neighborhood.

The all-day event will be divided into two time periods with a morning session
beginning at 10 AM and an afternoon session beginning at 1:30 PM. Both sessions
will cover identical materials - so join us at your own convenience!

Resiliency and Sustainability Meeting

On December 8, 2016, the Gowanus Neighborhood Planning Study hosted a public meeting on Resiliency and Sustainability. The purpose of the event was to share information about resiliency and sustainability topics in Gowanus and across the city, give the public an opportunity to meet with a cross-section of government agencies and local groups working on these issues in the community, discuss the upcoming public engagement process, and provide a brief summary of the previous month’s kick-off event. Study Kick Off Meeting

On October 27, 2016, the Department of City Planning hosted a kickoff meeting for the Gowanus Neighborhood Planning Study process. The event began with an open house where local business owners, workers, residents and property owners met with city-agencies around relevant topic areas and discussed the study’s process, approach and goals for the framework study areas.
