Gowanus is a neighborhood facing change and development pressure. In an effort to leverage that pressure toward fostering an inclusive and shared future, the Gowanus Neighborhood Planning Study was launched in the fall of 2016 as part of a collaboration between city agencies, residents, businesses, workers, local organizations, elected officials and other community members — and we want to hear from you!

The Neighborhood Study aims to build off of Bridging Gowanus by developing strategies and recommendations to support the local economy and its mix of uses, while creating opportunities for new housing with affordable housing, where appropriate. The Study seeks to balance many interests and needs including economic and job development, housing, resiliency and sustainability, community and cultural resources, environmental remediation and urban form. See more about specific Study goals in the FAQ.

Our community engagement effort doesn’t stop here - Plan Gowanus is just one of a variety of ways to get involved. We are holding public events, smaller forums, and other targeted stakeholder meetings where you can participate and provide additional feedback.

Feedback from these outreach efforts will be used by DCP and other city agencies to develop a draft planning and land use framework that will document recommendations and propose strategies to support the study goals.

Thanks for visiting! Please check out the study web page for more information and subscribe to our mailing list for updates. And check back as new interactive features and topics are added!
